The Red Devils have gone through a disastrous season and it definitely their worst

The situation at Manchester United has left a mixture of disappointment and anxiety among fans. The 2024-25 season, full of promise at the start, fizzled out as the months went by. Not only did the team miss out on the Champions League, but they also failed to secure a place in any European competition. The defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao was the final straw that broke the camel’s back. Erratic performances, key injuries and tactical decisions without impact meant that the club were completely exposed. Now, all signs point to a profound change ahead of the summer.

Amad apologises to United fans after the loss in the Europa League final

Amad, one of the few who showed determination in the midst of the chaos, posted a message after the defeat in Bilbao. In his words, he expressed his sadness at having failed to live up to expectations and took responsibility along with the rest of the squad. He acknowledged that the season was nowhere near the level the club demands. The 22-year-old also thanked the fans for not abandoning them even in the darkest moments. He showed shame, but also pride in belonging to a club of that magnitude. The Ivorian made it clear that his commitment remains intact.

Despite a poor collective year, Amad remained one of the few players with spark. 10 goals in total, spread between the Premier League and the Europa League, as well as decisive appearances such as his key assist in the semi-final against Athletic Club, establish him as someone who can make a difference. Many rumours put him on the transfer list, but selling him would be a mistake. He has pace, courage and makes decisions without fear. Although his return was late due to injury, his impact was immediate. While other names in the squad generated doubts or disappeared in big games, Amad emerged with personality.

More Manchester United News:

United need to rebuild, yes, but they cannot throw away the little that still generates hope. The Ivorian is young, knows the system, and has already shown he can respond under pressure. Besides, selling players with potential and mentality like his just to accumulate cash would be bread for today, hunger for tomorrow. In times of reconstruction, more than big name signings, consistency and continuity are needed, and Amad represents both. And while his words after the defeat reflect pain, they also hold promise. That kind of commitment cannot be bought.

There is another reading worth considering. That someone like Amad, neither captain nor veteran, has taken on the voice of the dressing room at such a critical time says more than any statistic. It takes character to stand up for yourself. It takes a sense of belonging to apologise publicly without apology. That gesture, despite his youth, puts him a step above. The club should build around that, and the rebuilding they plan for the summer cannot rely on names alone, it has to be based on attitudes. And Amad has just what is lacking today: conviction.
