Aberdeen will be without a permanent manager for the forthcoming Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Celtic. First Team coach Peter Leven had to step up to take the first team after Barry Robson was sacked and then when Neil Warnock departed.

According to The Sun, a deal has been agreed to bring Jimmy Thelin to Pittodrie to replace Robson as permanent manager. The ex-Aberdeen and Celtic midfielder was replaced by Warnock but the veteran only lasted eight games before leaving. Now, Leven will take the team again until the end of the season, including the Semi Final against Brendan Rodgers’ side at Hampden.

Thelin was in charge of Swedish side Elfborg and will reportedly join the Dons in the close season as he looks to build a new project at Pittodrie – who have struggled to replace the consistency of Derek McInnes’ time at the club. Thelin was actually the man that sold Celtic Gustaf Lagerbielke for £3m last summer; however, he has been limited to just ten appearances.

Leven was in the dugout when Celtic dropped points with a draw up at Pittodrie in February. Brendan Rodgers will be looking to beat the visitors from the North East and set up an end of season clash against either Hearts or Rangers on the 25th May. Aberdeen fans clearly do not fancy the game with the Dons handing back 10k briefs after supporters have failed to snap up tickets for the Semi.
