Legendary former AC Milan defender Marcel Desailly believes that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has what it takes to become a top striker in the game.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInter1908, the Frenchman gave his thoughts on both Martinez as well as Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Martinez has established himself as a key player for Inter over the past few seasons, whilst the 25-year-old has also become one of the most consistently prolific strikers in Serie A.

This coupled with the fact that the Argentine is also a regular starter for his national side as well as a persistent target for other top sides in Europe has led many to feel that he has entered the top bracket of strikers.

While this has been a matter for some debate, Desailly for his part has little doubt.

Asked if Martinez and Vlahovic can become world-class strikers, Desailly replied, “Martinez can, certainly. Vlahovic still needs to show more intensity.”
