AC Milan vice-president Franco Baresi says Rennes is a good Europa League draw.

Milan and Rennes were drawn today in the EL knockout for a place in the round of 16.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Baresi said: "We know that in football we shouldn't underestimate anyone, Milan must think big, be ambitious. The French teams are very particular, they must be taken with a pinch of salt, Milan for what it is, what it represents, we must think about winning.

"We have to play this competition in the best way, we are Milan and we think big, without underestimating anyone and with respect. We have time, we will play in February, we will be able to recover some players and manage the commitments as best as possible."

On the win against Monza.

"Good match, we created, played against a team that wasn't easy. Monza didn't have the best game, but Milan had the merit of creating problems for them. We managed to play quickly."

On the objectives.

"I don't think you have to choose, every competition must be played at its best, reaching as far as possible. We are at the beginning of the championship, the goal is to return to the Champions League, look ahead without losing points, consolidating and improving the ranking. Milan has a squad to compete in all events, both the Europa League and Serie A. You can't choose."

On Jan-Carlo Simic scoring on debut against Monza.

"It's nice to see a young man who grew up with us, making his debut and scoring goals straight away. It is good for the environment, for our colors, for the youth sector. I believe that Milan are attentive when there are some interesting young players to launch. We are very attentive to the Italian players, I am happy for Simic, first there was Camarda. I go back many years, when it happened to me too."

Did you expect something more this season?

"It's clear that we didn't have the continuity we thought, the Champions League group was very difficult. When you make a mistake in a game you compromise everything. The championship is long, when the team finds spirit and enthusiasm we can cause trouble all the way. If the others are better, we will applaud."
