AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jens Petter Hauge test positive for coronavirus

Hours before AC Milan were scheduled to face Roma in a Monday Serie A clash, Milan confirmed that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and winger Jens Petter Hauge tested positive for the coronavirus. Three staff members also tested positive and were placed in isolation.

Whilst they are all asymptomatic, they have immediately entered isolation in their homes and the relevant local health authorities have been informed, the club explained.

Today, the players and staff were tested again for Covid-19, as is required by protocol, and there have been no other positive test results for the virus.

Both Donnarumma and Hauge reacted to their positive test results via social media:

Per an Agence France-Presse report, rules in Italy dictate that any player who tests positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days. Following Monday's fixture, Milan face Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday and then play Udinese on Sunday. Milan host Lille in a Europa League contest on Nov. 5, which falls after the 10-day window. The players must return negative test results and report no symptoms to be cleared for that game.

Earlier this month, Milan star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic recovered from the coronavirus after he tested positive in September.

Milan began Monday atop the Serie A table on 12 points after four games. Roma, ninth in the league, earned seven points from their first four matches.
