Agent: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has 'no intention' of resigning

Manager Jurgen Klopp isn't going anywhere despite Liverpool's struggles over the first half of the 2022-23 season.

"I can assure that Jurgen Klopp has no intention of resigning from Liverpool FC," Marc Kosicke, Klopp's agent, told Sky Germany (h/t Sky Sports News) on Tuesday.

Kosicke's comments came after Liverpool suffered back-to-back Premier League losses to Nottingham Forest (dead last in the league table) and Leeds United (15th). Those results currently have Liverpool ninth in the table on 16 points, a whopping 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.

"The fact that problems could arise this season due to the past intensive season was taken into account by the club's owners before the start of the season," Kosicke continued. "Jurgen enjoys the backing of the people in charge and is in regular contact with them. He loves the club, his team and the fans and is determined to continue and successfully complete the transition in Liverpool. He didn't extend his contract until 2026 for nothing."

Klopp began his Liverpool reign in the fall of 2015 and has won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup with the storied club. His Liverpool sides fell to Real Madrid in Champions League finals in 2018 and earlier this year.

"It's not a quick fix but we will not stop fighting," Klopp said on Monday, according to Agence France-Presse (h/t The Score). "People look at me and they say 'he looks tired' or whatever but I'm not. I cannot give that excuse. My job is not only to be here when the sun is shining and somebody gives us a trophy. My job is to be there when we go through a really rough period and I will do that with all I have."

London sports radio station talkSport notes that the Premier League will temporarily halt play after the weekend of Nov. 12-13 for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. League games will resume on Dec. 26.
