Mattia Zaccagni hasn’t had a great start to the season, hitting the net just once in 15 appearances, and his agent Mario Giuffredi has filed the renewal negotiation away for rosier times in an interview with TVPlay (via Corriere dello Sport).

“He has had excellent performances, but he has been lacking from the scoring standpoint for now. He bagged ten goals last season. We’re only in November, and I’m convinced his numbers will improve.”

“This week is very important considering the Champions League game and the Derby. I will not watch it out of superstition. Any time I do that, Lazio lose.”

Giuffredi dished on the conversations to extend the contract of Zaccagni.

“We haven’t tackled the topic again with the management lately. He’ll need to forge his own path. Then, if he has a great season, it won’t be our problem, but rather somebody else’s one.”

The winger is tied to Lazio only until 2025. Therefore, he’ll be in the same situation that led to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s departure last summer. The Biancocelesti still cashed in fully thanks to a rich offer from Al-Hilal.

Zaccagni bowed out early in the recent Champions League match against Feyenoord due to a knee problem. There’s tangible concern about his availability for the Derby and for the next Italy matches, Gianluca Di Marzio relays, even though the club announced that he didn’t suffer any structural damage.
