Federico Pastorello is the agent of two pillars of the Inter defense, Stefan De Vrij and Benjamin Pavard, and believes the Nerazzurri have the best line in Serie A following their summer moves. La Beneamata re-upped with the Dutchman and signed the former Bayern Munich ace for €30M. They also replaced André Onana with Yann Sommer.

Their rearguard is off to a great start, as they didn’t concede in the first three matches against Monza, Cagliari, and Fiorentina. They’ll face their toughest test to date once league play resumes since the Derby della Madonnina awaits them.

Pastorello spoke to SportMediaset.

“The defense was the great protagonist of the past Inter season and their forte for long stretches. Thanks to the confirmations and the arrival of Pavard, I think it’s still the best in the Serie A.”

The Nerazzurri lost Milan Skriniar, although he missed most matches from January on due to a back injury. Contrary to the agent’s remarks, they allowed 42 goals in 2022/2023, ranking behind Napoli, Lazio, Juventus, Roma, and Torino.

Our Take on the Inter Defense

It was sneaky unreliable for a while in the past campaign. On paper, its level is similar, but they made a more concerted effort in the passive phase in the early going. Still, their schedule was easy. Only more challenging matches can testify to whether it improved or not.
