Lazio reportedly accepted a loan offer from Lecce for Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro but the Ivorian midfielder turned down the move.

The Biancocelesti have been looking for a new home for the 29-year-old midfielder for a number of weeks now, keen to shift the unneeded player in order to lower their wage bill. Maurizio Sarri did not bring Akpa Akpro to the pre-season training camp in Germany earlier this month, making the club’s position clear.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lecce emerged with a loan offer for Akpa Akpro recently, which Lazio accepted, but the 29-year-old midfielder rejected the move.

The Biancocelesti need to find a solution as soon as possible, with only a few weeks left in the summer transfer window now. Akpa Akpro currently earns around €900,000 net per season, something the Roman club don’t want to waste on a redundant option.

The 29-year-old Ivorian is seemingly liked by some clubs in Ligue 1 and recent reports suggested that a return to Toulouse could be on the horizon.
