Almeria have sacked coach Gaizka Garitano.

Garitano had been hired to the end of the season with a 12 month option if they stayed up.

However, Garitano leaves the Almera bench five months after his hiring (on October 8) having collected 7 points out of 57.

The Basque led Almera in 19 games in which he has been unable to secure a victory, registering a balance of seven draws and twelve defeats.

Along with the record, Almeria's board were also unhappy with Garitano freezing out Largie Ramazani and failing to use midfielder Sergio Arribas more.

Almeria have since announced Pepe Mel as his replacement.
