Pierre Kalulu has impressed Stefano Pioli lately and has consequently been getting a lot more playing time. AC Milan are happy with his development and it’s clear that he’s a name for the future.

Since joining the team last year, the Frenchman has been used mainly as a right-back but also as a centre-back and even as a left-back. In short, his versatility has come in handy for Pioli although his main position is clear.

Speaking to RadioRossonera, as cited by MilanNews, former Milan player and captain Massimo Ambrosini shared his thoughts on Kalulu’s season thus far. He stated that the youngster still has some way to go to play at centre-back regularly.

“I like him, he’s a boy who has gained confidence along the way. Now he also plays with a pinch of recklessness, a sign of confidence and increased self-esteem. I prefer when he’s a full-back, as a centre-back you need some more complex interpretation, as the coaches would say. He also has the running and athleticism to make him a good option for the centre-back position eventually,” he stated.

Kalulu should play the game against Liverpool next week from start and it will be a big opportunity for him to show his qualities. Milan need to win in order to have a chance of advancing so the players need to be at their best.
