An exclusive from Caughtoffside today claims that Chelsea could make a Bayer Leverkusen player “one of their top priority targets” next summer.

Edmond Tapsoba has always been highly rated, and he’s now finally part of a really strong team as Xabi Alonso brings him up to the next level with league leading Leverkusen.

6 foot 4 Tapsoba has it all in terms of physicality and defensive ability, and Alonso is doing wonders working on his passing range too. Chelsea were linked with him in the summer when Wesley Fofana picked up another serious injury, but in the end a swift move for Axel Disasi was completed instead.

We really considered the centre backs a complete area of the team, but the constant rumours like this linking us to players in that position (yesterday it was Jean Clair Todibo of Nice, for example) are making us believe that that’s not yet the case.
