Antonio Conte was reportedly keen on selling three first-team players at the start of the season.

A report from Football Insider claims that the Italian manager wanted to get rid of players like Ben Davies, Oliver, Skip and Fraser Forster at the start of the campaign because they are “not good enough”.

Davies has been a reliable defender for Tottenham and his departure would have been a surprise. Ivan Perisic is the only other reliable left-back at the club right now.

Davies has made 26 appearances in the league and seven appearances in the Champions League for Tottenham this season. The Welsh defender has started 21 league matches and he has been a useful option for the North London club.

On the other hand, Oliver Skipp remains a talented young player with a big future ahead of him, and he has started the last nine matches for the North London club.

As far as Forster is concerned, he has proven to be an invaluable option during the injury to Hugo Lloris.

Selling these players would have weakened the depth at the club and the fans will be pleased that Conte was not allowed to go through with his decision to get rid of these players.

Tottenham have parted ways with the Italian manager recently, and they have put Ryan Mason in charge as the caretaker manager until the end of the season.

They are thought to be looking at potential long-term replacements for Conte and managers like Julian Nagelsmann are on their radar.
