Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez will reportedly put his signature on a new contract following his club’s imminent Scudetto triumph.

The Argentine’s agent Alejandro Camano has been in talks with the club’s management for quite some time now. The two parties had always insisted that the negotiations are going smoothly, but some fans have been growing impatient with the delay.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, the signatures could arrive soon enough.

The Nerazzurri will have the opportunity to clinch the club’s 20th Scudetto title with a victory over AC Milan on Monday.

This represents a unique opportunity for Martinez. Even the club’s greatest captains, the likes of Javier Zanetti, Giacinto Facchetti and Giuseppe Bergomi never lifted the Scudetto on the back of a Derby della Madonnina victory.

So once the Serie A title is in the bag, the club will turn its attention to the renewal front.

Inter Milan Captain Lautaro Martinez Set To Ink New Deal Following Scudetto Triumph

As the source tells it, the two parties will sign a new deal valid until the summer of 2029. Lautaro’s new salary will be nine million euros per season, including bonuses.

Moreover, the pink newspaper reveals that Suning’s green light has arrived. The club’s Chinese owners gave their consent to the relatively high wages – at least based on Inter’s current own parameters.

But for now, the 2022 World Cup winner will be eager to finish the job on the pitch. He’ll be looking to lead the Nerazzurri to victory over Milan, as he often did in recent seasons.

Moreover, this would be the ideal occasion to end his goal drought. The Argentine remains the runaway leader in the Serie A goal-scorer charts with 23 strikes to his name. However, he hasn’t found the back of the net since February.
