Arsenal has had a flat £60m bid for Brighton midfielder instantly rejected by the club as they look to conclude their transfer business before the month’s end.

The Gunners have been jaw-droppingly good so far this season and deservedly sit at the top of the Premier League table. Mikel Arteta has transformed an otherwise wilting football club into the rejuvenated giant that we all know them as.

But it doesn’t take a genius to point out the team’s biggest weakness, depth, in particular the midfield position. Arsenal has plenty of attacking flair but they are light in the midfield, outside of their preferred three.

In order to prevent this potential disaster Arteta has been on the lookout for a backup midfielder and has made the first move in an attempt to secure his signature.

Arsenal put in a whopping £60m bid for Moises Caicedo early Friday morning but Brighton immediately rejected it and claimed that they have no interest in selling the 21-year-old.
