Arsenal have started contract talks with defender Reuell Walters in earnest to avoid him going to another team.

The 18-year-old has been impressing in the youth setup since arriving in 2020.

Walters, who is a right-back and central defender, is yet to make his senior debut for the club.

He has been on the bench 13 times, with the plan being to give him a debut against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in midweek.

Per The Standard, manager Mikel Arteta hopes that more game time and a bumper new deal will convince Walters to stay.

He is attracting interest from Premier League clubs and other top teams in Europe.
