Burnley boss Scott Parker emerges as a potential candidate to succeed Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Tottenham have now shifted their full focus to the UEFA Europa League after their heavy defeat at Anfield, which saw Liverpool crowned Premier League champions.

The Lilywhites are set to host Bodø/Glimt on Thursday, May 1, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash. Despite their European aspirations, Ange Postecoglou’s future looks increasingly bleak. It is believed that Tottenham are likely to part ways with the Australian manager at the end of the season, regardless of whether they lift the Europa League trophy or not. Scott Parker has now emerged as the leading candidate to take over and is poised to inherit the role.

Daniel Levy could turn to Burnley manager Scott Parker as a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham. Parker has emerged as one of several candidates linked with the Spurs job in recent weeks, although his possible appointment has not been widely embraced by the fanbase.

However, not everyone sees Parker as an underwhelming option. Veteran broadcaster Richard Keys has publicly backed the 44-year-old, calling him a realistic and sensible choice to succeed Postecoglou. The speculation comes just days after Parker guided Burnley back to the Premier League, breaking multiple records in the process, including setting a new Championship record for most clean sheets in a single season (30).

Bryan King gives his take on the situation

Scott Parker was named Championship Manager of the Season at the EFL Awards on Sunday, further boosting his credentials amid growing links to the Tottenham job. Former Spurs scout Bryan King believes the ex-Tottenham midfielder would leap at the opportunity to manage in North London if offered the role.

King highlighted Parker’s experience of managing clubs with limited budgets, describing him as a young, up-and-coming coach who is well worth considering. He argued that appointing Parker “can’t be any worse than what Spurs have had recently” and stressed that Parker’s Tottenham roots would make him even more eager to succeed at the club.

King also pointed out that while Spurs would likely need to pay around £10 million in compensation to Burnley to secure Parker’s services, that fee would be a relatively small price to pay in today’s inflated football market.

Speaking to Tottenham News, here is what he said

“He is a young up-and-coming manager, so why not look to him? It can’t be any worse than what we have had. He is an ex-Tottenham player. Therefore, I’d imagine he would be very interested in the job if it were offered to him.”

“Tottenham will have to pay a compensation fee, probably around £10million. However, in today’s football market, that is a small price to pay.”

Despite Tottenham’s ongoing struggles and the uncertainty clouding his future, Ange Postecoglou still has a golden opportunity to leave his mark on the club’s history. The former Celtic boss could yet deliver a major triumph by leading Spurs to Europa League glory. For now, his sole focus must be on shutting out the external noise and steering Tottenham through the final stages of their European campaign with composure and determination.
