Barcelona hero Javier Mascherano is leaving his job as Argentina U20 coach.

As confirmed by the journalist Gastn Edul to TyC Sports, 'el Jefecito' concludes his time as team boss after a poor performance of the side in the South American Championship.

In the 4 games played by the Albiceleste in the South American Under-20 Championship held in Colombia, Mascherano's players suffered 3 defeats and only managed a single victory against Peru.

As well as this, the side never convinced on the pitch with their playing style, something that worried both the fans and the directors.

Edul confirmed after Mascherano's dismissal announcement that, for the moment, the AFA has still not proposed a firm candidate to take over, and that they will try to carry out this replacement process in a way that best puts the new manager in a position to succeed.
