Barcelona legend Carles Puyol lauds Inter Milan striker Alexis Sanchez both for his quality on the pitch as well as his human values.

The 35-year-old boasts an elusive career having represented some of the biggest clubs in Europe. This includes the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United.

The talented forward initially joined the Nerazzurri in 2019. After three years at Appiano Gentile, he signed for Olympique Marseille where he rediscovered his goalscoring prowess.

But despite his exploits in France, he parted ways with OM before rejoining Inter on a one-year contract.

Between 2011 and 2014, the Chilean plied his trade at Catalunya alongside the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi.

During that period, Puyol was the club’s captain and ultimate symbol. The Barcelona icon recalls Alexis’ time at the club fondly while praising the Nerazzurri veteran.

“I was lucky enough to play with Sanchez. He is an incredible player and a great person,” said the 2010 World Cup winner in an interview with Radio ADN via FcInterNews.

“I consider him a good friend. I wish him all the best because he is a player who makes the difference on the pitch.”

Puyol, who is currently visiting Chile, also had kind words about former Inter, Juventus and Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

“I wasn’t lucky enough to play with Arturo. However, we did play against him.

“He’s a very good player, who works a lot. We’re talking about a team player who also boasts an impressive record with the Chilean national team.”

The 36-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in 2020. However, his two-year spell at Appiano Gentile was underwhelming.

Vidal then had a couple of stints in Brazil before rejoining his original club Colo Colo in January.
