Reports suggest Barcelona are set to target Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

There was a lot written about Rashford over the summer after a dismal season but, under Erik ten Hag, the academy graduate has rediscovered his form by winning the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for September.

The award is testament to how well Rashford has adapted to the number nine role since the start of the season, although we all know only time will tell if he is able to keep this sort of form going long-term.

Even though he stayed put, the 24-year-old’s future is still grabbing the headlines, in Spain at least.

According to SPORT, Barcelona want Rashford and will make moves to sign the player in 2023.

Stretty News verdict

Firstly, I was not one of the people who had completely given up on Rashford after last season. I am also encouraged by how Ten Hag has handled him since becoming manager — by making it clear that he wants to work with the forward.

With that sort of belief behind him, as well as a coach who improves players, I think Rashford can prove his doubters wrong this season. Then it would be a matter of rejecting any interest from Barcelona.

Rashford just needs to focus on himself right now because Ten Hag is pushing for players to earn new contracts, and he is a player who could see his deal expire next year.

Another factor to consider is how Barcelona handled the Frenkie de Jong saga throughout the summer. I’m not sure I want to do them any favours in the foreseeable future.
