Barcelona are reportedly set to turn their attentions to Manchester United forward Anthony Martial after missing out on Alvaro Morata.

Ralf Rangnick confirmed in December that Martial had expressed a desire to leave Man United. The Frenchman has begun to stagnate at Old Trafford and has fallen drastically down the pecking order.

A move away from the club in January could be exactly what he needs to kickstart his career, which may well be necessary if he wants to have any hope of making the France World Cup squad.

While there hasn’t yet been any workable proposals on the table for Martial, that could soon change, or so suggest claims made by Spanish publication SPORT.

As per the report, Barcelona have turned their attentions to recruiting Martial after their efforts to sign Alvaro Morata from Juventus fell flat.

Considering Man United would be open to the idea of a short-term loan deal, were Barcelona to make a considerable wage contribution, it could be an attractive option for Joan Laporta.

Whether Barcelona in their current state would be the right destination for Martial is another matter entirely, but he isn’t going to have many clubs of that calibre knocking at his door this winter.
