Barcelona Sporting Director has held a meeting with Gareth Bale’s former agent Jonathan Barnett, who also counts Villarreal playmaker Alex Baena amongst his clients.

Barnett and Deco met in a Barcelona restaurant as per Jijantes via MD, although no details emerged on any players they were discussing. As per the Catalan daily, Deco was simply enquiring about the various players that are on Barnett’s books and their situations. It should be noted that he also handles the contracts of Barcelona youngsters Fermin Lopez, Ander Astralaga, Diego Kochen and Sergi Dominguez.

Baena declared two weeks ago that he would be delighted to play for Barcelona, but Aston Villa and former manager Unai Emery are the ones that have been most closely linked with Baena. That is on account of his €60m release clause, which seems a long shot for the Blaugrana until they make some major sales first. All the same, Xavi Hernandez is reportedly a big fan of Baena’s too.
