Barcelona have started their squad planning for next season, with sporting director Deco leading that aspect. He will liaise with Xavi Hernandez to decide who is wanted for the 2024-25 campaign, and one of those expected to stay on is Sergi Roberto.

Roberto’s contract at Barcelona is set to expire in less than two months. However, there is a great desire from Xavi especially to see him extend his stay, and the hope is that it could be finalised very soon.

As per Relevo, a meeting is set for next week, at which point Roberto will discuss a renewal with Barcelona. A face-to-face already took place earlier this week, and there is a total willingness for the two parties to continue their relationship for another 12 months. As such, the expectation is that things will be finalised during this next meeting.

Roberto has proven himself to be a valuable squad player this season, and given that he is on a very low wage compared to the rest of his teammates, it makes complete sense for Barcelona to ask him to continue.
