Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer is impressed with how his former teammate Yann Sommer has started the season at Inter Milan.
Speaking to German tabloid Sport Bild, via FCInterNews, the 2014 World Cup winner gave his thoughts on how Sommer has adapted to life in Serie A.
During the summer transfer window prior to this season, Sommer joined Inter.
The Swiss international had spent the second half of last season at Bayern.
Sommer had joined the Bavarians as temporary injury cover for Neuer. The captain had missed the entire second half of the campaign due to a broken leg.
Sommer had spent eight and a half seasons with Borussia Monchengladbach.
The veteran keeper had proven himself to be one of the Bundesliga’s outstanding keepers during that time. But he never got his hands on any silverware.
At Bayern, that changed.
Sommer helped Bayern to win the Bundesliga title.
And this time around, the 34-year-old is fighting for another league title. He is aiming to win the Serie A title with Inter.

Sommer’s good performances have been a big part of Inter enjoying as positive first half to the season as they have done.
It will not be easy for the Nerazzurri to keep up the same level over the second half of the campaign.
But Sommer looks to be quite a safe pair of hands to rely upon in their efforts.
Neuer said of his former teammate that “I’ve been following him at Inter.”
“He’s had an excellent first half of the season,” the German continued.
Across the first nineteen matches of the season in Serie A, Sommer has conceded a total of just nine goals. He has kept twelve clean sheets.
This is the best record of any keeper in the division.
