Bayern Munich have identified Tottenham star Pedro Porro as a serious option to reinforce their defensive unit next season

Tottenham Hotspur have had a couple of experienced players leave them for Bayern Munich in the last couple of years.

Spurs legend Harry Kane signed for Bayern Munich in an initial eye-watering £86.4m deal in the summer of 2023. The following transfer window, i.e. during the 2024 mid-season intervals, the Bundesliga giants brought in Eric Dier on loan from the Lilywhites until the end of the season, with the option for a further year.

Kane has become a fan favourite at the Allianz Arena, thanks to his ruthless goalscoring ability. He has banged goals left, right and centre since joining Bayern two years ago, and he has helped Vincent Kompany’s side win the Bundesliga title this season. Dier, meanwhile, was struggling to break into the first XI, but since the final week of February, the defender has started and completed 90 minutes in each of his 11 Bundesliga outings.

In short, it has to be said that the duo have contributed richly to Bayern’s title success under Kompany. Now, another Tottenham player could end up at Bayern once the summer transfer window opens.

According to a report form Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bayern have set their sights on Spurs right-back Pedro Porro. The Spaniard is one of the three players Kompany wants to strengthen his forces for next season, with the other two being Bayer Leverkusen duo Jonathan Tah and Florian Wirtz.

One of Ange Postecoglou’s reliable players in an otherwise torrid domestic season, Pedro Porro has continued to perform well for the N17-based outfit. The 25-year-old started the season as the first-choice right-back, and while he endured a slight dip in form for a couple of months that allowed Djed Spence to usurp him from the first XI, he has since managed to wrestle back his position in the team.

The Spanish international has registered four goals and nine assists in 49 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and his impressive displays coupled with high fitness levels, have unsurprisingly caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs. The aforementioned report adds Bayern have identified Porro to be their first-choice right-back next season and are willing to negotiate a fee with Spurs, as he fits the profile perfectly for Kompany’s system.

The Lilywhites currently remain uninterested in selling Porro, but an offer of around €60-€65 million could change their mind. Even if he has proven himself at a high level and established himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in the Premier League, the ex-Sporting CP man cannot be deemed as an unsellable commodity.

If Bayern fulfils Tottenham’s financial demands, and Porro gets tempted by the opportunity of playing in the Bundesliga and competing for trophies, Daniel Levy will be left with no option but to sell him.
