Manchester United are out of this season’s Carabao Cup following a 1-0 home defeat against David Moyes’ West Ham United.

The Red Devils would have come into Wednesday night’s cup match in good spirits having recently beaten the Hammers 2-1 in the Premier League.

However, the third round tie wasn’t meant to be and after a first-half strike from South American attacker Manuel Lanzini beat back-up goalkeeper Dean Henderson, the Hammers were able to shut up shop and successfully see the game out.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named a much-changed side which included midfielder Donny van de Beek picking up a rare start while striker Anthony Martial was recalled to lead the side’s line.

Despite many positives, especially from van de Beek and also the likes of Diogo Dalot, Martial’s lacklustre performance is once again a major cause for concern.
