AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has insisted that he is fit and ready to help the team as he returns to the starting line-up for tonight’s game against Napoli.

Tijjani Reijnders will miss the game due to having picked up too many yellow cards thus meaning that he has to serve a one-match ban, and with Bennacer returning from injury he slots straight in alongside Yacine Adli in the double pivot.

Having come back from the African Cup of Nations – where Algeria were surprisingly knocked out in the group stages – with an adductor problem, the former Empoli man needed some time to get back in contention.

He came off the bench during the win over Frosinone and now will make his first start since coming back and he has some very important tasks to fulfil against a re-worked Napoli side.

Bennacer spoke to Milan TV just before the game at San Siro, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

A difficult game awaits…

“We are doing well, we have shown great team spirit in the last few outings and we have worked a lot in recent weeks, it won’t be easy this evening but we will have to play a great game to win.”

A home win in the league against Napoli has been missing for a long time…

“We have to win at San Siro because we haven’t won a win against them in Serie A for a long time, but as I said before we are doing well in this last period, we want to do well tonight too because it will be a match that will be won in the details.”

How are you feeling after returning from injury?

“I’m fine, I’m working hard every day and I’m ready to help my team as always.”
