Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has struggled for regular game time at the North London club this season.

Arsenal decided to sign David Raya from Brentford at the start of the season and he has pushed Ramsdale down the packing order. The 25-year-old English goalkeeper has been linked with the move away from Arsenal in recent months, and it remains to be seen whether he can force his way back into the starting lineup.

Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has now heaped praise on the Arsenal goalkeeper and claimed that he could start for a lot of Premier League clubs and the lack of gametime at Arsenal is certainly disappointing.

He was a key player for Arsenal last season and he helped them challenge for the league title. The 25-year-old will want to play regularly once again and it remains to be seen whether he can convince Mikel Arteta to give him regular opportunities.

If things do not improve in the coming months, the goalkeeper could look to move on at the end of the season.

When asked about the clubs he would start for, Bent believes that Ramsdale would be the first-choice goalkeeper for clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle United. However, the former Tottenham striker added that he would not have started at Spurs ahead of Guglielmo Vicario.

Bent lavished praise on the Tottenham summer signing and claimed that the Italian goalkeeper has been outstanding since his arrival and he would have certainly retained his place in the starting lineup even if Ramsdale played for Tottenham.

Bent said on talkSPORT: “You look at Aaron Ramsdale and you look at the Premier League table. There are a lot of clubs, by the way, he could go to and play. It’s a shame.

“I think he would play there (Chelsea). I think he would play there (Newcastle United) ahead of Pope.”

When asked about Tottenham, Ramsdale said: “Nah because their goalkeeper is different class. Vicario, he is unbelievable.”
