Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti is confident of the Nerazzurri’s chances in the Derby della Madonnina, feeling no doubts ahead of the clash with Milan.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are on the cusp of mathematically guaranteeing their Scudetto, with a victory in the derby being enough for them to secure the title, earning the club’s second star. Doing so in the derby is the cherry on top for those in black and blue.

Milan are desperate not to watch their rivals Inter win the Scudetto in the derby and need to show a definitive response following their Europa League quarter-final exit to Roma last week. The mood amongst fans is low as Stefano Pioli nears his expected dismissal.

Berti confident for Inter

Speaking to Libero via TMW, Berti first underlined his confidence that Inter would win the Scudetto against Milan in the derby.

“Tonight, we’ll win the derby, the Scudetto and the second star. How can I be so sure? Because on Tuesday I’d like to drive the bus in the celebration parade through the streets of Milan.

“I said it before and I’ll repeat it in case you didn’t understand, tonight we will sew the second star on our shirt at the final whistle. Doubts? Milan coming off five defeats in a row in the derby, you don’t want me to talk about Milan, eh?”

Berti then discussed the talismanic qualities of Nicolo Barella.

“N.B. or Nicola Barella, as N.B. stood for Nicola Berti in the record-breaking 1989 scudetto when we beat Milan but, above all, Diego Armando Maradona’s Napoli. You understand, Maradona eh?

“Why Barella? Because he has my role, my style, my initials. And where do we put Lautaro? He is the perfect captain on a perfect team chock full of so many great players.”
