Turkish side Besiktas are expected to try to re-sign Wout Weghorst from Burnley in the summer, with a permanent move to Manchester United looking unlikely.

While the Dutchman has been a positive addition to Erik ten Hag’s side since joining on loan in January, he’s not been clinical enough in front of goal, so we need to return to the transfer market this summer for a more prolific centre-forward.

GOAL have done a report on Weghorst’s future and claim that the Turkish giants will welcome him back at the end of the season, which comes as no surprise because he was such a big hit there.

Burnley have been promoted to the Premier League but it is understood that Vincent Kompany does not have any plans for Weghorst in his team.

In turn, Burnley would prefer to sell Weghorst this summer, while Besiktas may request to re-sign him on loan again.

That could be a deal breaker but don’t expect United to jump in and save the day. Ten Hag needs a signing like Harry Kane this summer.

There’s no doubting that we need more goals in attack and Weghorst has not provided that.
