Andersen Wants To Play For Bigger Club Than Palace
Danish international defender Andersen has been a big hit among Crystal Palace fans since his arrival from Lyon in 2021. However, he has recently revealed his plans for the future and they may well be away from Selhurst Park.
Andersen spoke to Danish news outlet Ekstra Bladet ahead of Denmark’s EURO qualifiers against San Marino and Finland.
In the interview, he spoke about his ambitions, saying: “I want to play in the biggest and best clubs in the world.”
No Concrete Offers For Andersen This Summer
The defender was linked with a move away from Crystal Palace for most of the summer. He was heavily linked with Newcastle United, with reports suggesting The Magpies were hopeful of securing his signature. Then, Tottenham reportedly joined the race for the Danish player as his transfer fee was apparently set at £50 million.
Despite these reports, the man has himself confirmed there were no concrete offers for his services during this transfer window.
On the subject of transfer offers, he said: “There were a few things back and forth, but nothing concrete.”
While there may not have been anything concrete over the summer that could soon change.
The 6-foot 3-inch colossus has put in some fantastic performances this season that have seen him named man of the match in two of four Premier League outings. He also currently holds a 7.74 rating on WhoScored, which is the highest for any defender in the top flight of English football at present.
That sort of form, if it continues, is definitely going to turn more than a few heads and a concrete offer could well be made when the transfer window reopens in January.
Andersen Reveals Race Against Time To Achieve His Goals
The 23 cap Danish international appeared to be worried about age preventing him from achieving his goals of playing for the biggest and best clubs in the world.
It sounded like he believes he needs to move sooner rather than later, with him noting: “I’m 27, and if I’m going to make a transfer, it should preferably be within the next few years. I’m not getting any younger.”
