Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has always espoused his love for the club, and showed he was willing to accept a bit-part role when he signed a four-year contract renewal last summer. Yet he is now keen to switch sides, crossing the Madrid divide.

While his use was infrequent last season, Ceballos has been a footnote in Real Madrid’s current campaign, and is now keen to seek a move, as per multiple sources. However as per El Desmarque, Ceballos already has a pre-agreement in place to sign with Atletico Madrid. Ultimately this will mean little unless Real Madrid can agree a fee with Los Rojiblancos, but it certainly comes as something of a surprise.

There has been plenty of talk surrounding Atletico and potential midfield targets, such as Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer and Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, but it appears Ceballos is one of their priorities. Atletico were in contact with Wieffer earlier this season in the January transfer window, and submitted a bid for O’Riley late in the transfer window.

Milan have also been linked with Ceballos, but their interest appears to be in a loan move rather than a permanent move. If a decent offer comes in for Ceballos, Real Madrid seem likely to consider it, although those chances may drop if Luka Modric does decide to leave at the end of the season.
