Multiple reports in Italy confirm Salernitana have reached an agreement in today’s meeting with Jerome Boateng until the end of the season.

The 35-year-old defender is a free agent and has been out of contract since leaving Olympique Lyonnais in July 2023.

He was linked with several clubs, including Como with coach Cesc Fabregas, but Salernitana were by far the most insistent and this afternoon a face to face meeting was held between the Germany legend, his agent and Salernitana director of sport Walter Sabatini.

Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and Tuttomercatoweb all report an agreement was reached to sign on until the end of the season.

Calciomercato.it claim the details include an option to extend for one more year in case of securing Serie A safety.

The salary ought to be around €600,000 plus bonuses for avoiding relegation.

Salernitana are also a draw for Boateng because he will be reunited with former Bayern Munich teammate Franck Ribery, who joined the club as a player in September 2021 and then remained with the staff following retirement in October 2022.
