Former Barcelona and AC Milan striker Bojan Krkic has announced his retirement at the age of 32.

Bojan played for Bara, Roma, Milan, Ajax, Stoke, Mainz, Alavs, Montreal Impact and Vissel Kobe.

At his retirement ceremony at the Nou Camp today, the former striker said: "I came to do the tests when I was 9 years old in the dirt fields next door, that's where it all began, after many experiences and learning at a professional level, I want to announce that a stage as a professional soccer player is coming to an end, I am realistic and aware that life is stages and I want to communicate it now.

"After a lot of learning, with great pride, I announce that a stage is over. I feel infinitely grateful for everything I have achieved. For a long time I felt that my stage has ended.

"These decisions are not easy, but I had been away from home for twelve years. Professionally I am very fulfilled and I felt that it was time to be close to my family, to enjoy everything that I have not done in these years."

Bojan has revealed he's now working towards to being a sporting director.

He also said: "I have been training in sports management issues in recent years. I have had many experiences, beyond football, I am prepared to be part of a club, in sports management or in the human management of the players.

"At Bara? Bara is family, where I have been trained as a player and as a person and logically being able to help the club grow would make me very excited. I am very much from Bara, for me it would be a great pride and an honour.

"The feeling is very strong, but it will be see."

Barca president Joan Laporta, who chaired the event, responded: "Bara is your home, see you soon and hopefully we can return the club to its splendor with your collaboration."
