Kobbie Mainoo is continuing to receive plaudits with every outing he makes for Manchester United.

It certainly seems as though the 18-year-old is grounded enough to not let the recent attention get to his head, which will only aid his development further.

His inclusion on the teamsheet last weekend marked a 10th successive start in all competitions and he has been a standout name in each of them. He scored his first-ever senior goal during the Reds’ FA Cup win over Newport County in January, and went on to open his Premier League account the following month with a crucial injury-time winner at the Molineux.

Against Aston Villa, Mainoo was pivotal in the build-up to Scott McTominay’s 86th-minute header; he evaded the press of two defenders before playing the ball to Diogo Dalot, who assisted the Scot for his seventh goal of the campaign.

Reacting to the match’s affairs on The Rest Is Football, Gary Lineker said: “Kobbie Mainoo. He is very young but boy is he impressive. He was brilliant again at the weekend.”
