Former AC Milan transfers chief Ariedo Braida says coach Stefano Pioli is being made a scapegoat.

Pioli is being criticised after defeat to Inter Milan crowned the Nerazzurri as champions.

Braida told MilanNews.it: "We must accept the verdicts. Then start again, plan, work. They placed all the blame on the coach, who certainly has some fault but he served as a scapegoat for everyone's shortcomings.

"Instead they will decide to fire at the coach. In life you have to have the courage to admit your mistakes, then start again in a positive way."

"It depends on the management to know how to create a state of belonging to the club. Which involves everyone, from the president, to the coach to the warehouse worker. It must be something that is experienced in the locker room, at Milanello, on the plane.

"It is something intangible but it's there. Anyone who has been a manager for many years knows these things, understands them. And if you are good at understanding them, you have already taken a huge step towards winning. No proclamations, but plan, work hard. Few proclamations, but facts."
