Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi has congratulated Paul Barber on signing a new deal.

The chief executive has put pen to paper on a contract that will take him to 2030.

The Albion are heavily reliant on Barber and his expertise to ensure they can grow the club and remain ambitious.

Asked about the news by reporters, De Zerbi said: "First of all I am really happy because Paul Barber extended his contract.

"I sent a message yesterday to him because I think Paul is one of the best managers [executives] in the Premier League and we are lucky to work with him for the future of Brighton.

"My ambitions are the same as my players, my fans.

"When I said something different, something maybe strong, it is for Brighton, to push my club to give something more every season, every transfer market.

"To work better in terms of organization of the club, not for myself."
