West Ham have surprisingly appointed Moritz Steidten to a role in their backroom staff.

The Hammers are said to have brought in the brother of their sporting director Tim Steidten.

The Mail first stated that Tim was eager to bring in his brother, who has now joined as their head of international scouting and recruitment.

Moritz does come in with experience, having worked at German club Werder Bremen since 2015.

There may be some sense that West Ham have moved to secure both Steidtens for the near future.

There had been speculation that Liverpool were eager to bring in Tim to replace Jorg Schmadtke.
