Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan could make his first start for the club in the upcoming Serie A fixture against Empoli.

The 25-year-old joined the Serie A leaders in January, completing a switch from Club Brugge worth 8 million euros.

The Canadian arrived as a replacement for Juan Cuadrado who has been out of action for several months after undergoing surgery.

Yet, Buchanan has yet to play an integral role in the team.

He has only made three Serie A appearances thus far, all as a second-half substitute.

But according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, the winger’s moment could finally arrive after the international break.

The Roman newspaper believes he could start in the club’s next fixture against Empoli at San Siro.

As the source explains, the versatile star will return relatively early from international duty.

Canada will host Trinidad and Tobago in the CONCACAF Nations League. The squad will then dispatch with the Buchanan returning to Italy.

Therefore, he will have more than a week to train under the guidance of Simone Inzaghi ahead of the Empoli match.

This could give Buchanan the edge over his teammates in team selection.

Inter Milan January Signing Tajon Buchanan Could Make His Full Debut Vs Empoli

The report adds that Inzaghi was tempted to start the January signing against Napoli. However, he ultimately opted for the tried-and-tested wingback duo of Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco.

The Canadian primarily plays as a right winger, but he’s been mostly featuring on the left since joining the Nerazzurri.

Hence, Buchanan could play on either side or even in a more advanced position on the field whenever required.
