The 2023-24 rendition of Serie A has seen three teams firmly glued to the top spots of the division – those being AC Milan, Inter, and Juventus. However, today, Fabio Capello has analysed the teams and highlighted a weak area within one of them.

The race for first place, much like last season, has been dominated by one side, Inter, who have never taken their foot off the gas. In the race for the second spot, though, there has been an 18-game period where Milan and the Old Lady have battled, and currently, the Rossoneri hold that place.

The Bianconeri have a substantially higher wage budget than the Diavolo, but this has not caused a difference on the playing field, with Milan extending the difference to Massimiliano Allegri’s side to three points after their victory against Verona at the weekend.

With the race not over, Capello spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera) about the differences in the squads and highlighted why Juventus may fall further behind in the next few weeks.

What is the problem with Allegri’s squad?

“The real problems are the goals conceded and the lack of quality. He must move away from the trident. Allegri doesn’t have Mbappé or Vinicius up front to deploy three forwards.”

What is the difference between Milan and Inter?

“Between the two teams [Milan and Inter], there is no comparison in terms of quality. And even Milan, now second in the standings, have a more competitive squad than the Juventus team. Specifically, Inzaghi’s and Pioli’s teams create many more chances for the attackers than Juventus. And do you know why? Because the Nerazzurri have a midfield with so much quality. And Milan on the left, thanks to Theo and Leao, can invent everything over 90 minutes.

“For Juventus, the man who makes the most difference is Rabiot, and it’s no coincidence that the period of crisis has coincided with a few aches and pains of the Frenchman.”
