SATURDAY 11th MAY 1912 – For the second time this season, Celtic beat Clyde in a final. A month ago it was the Scottish Cup final. Today it is the Glasgow Charity Cup final. It was actually a goalless draw, but Celtic won 7-0 on corners, such was their territorial superiority even when playing against the strong wind!

MONDAY 11th MAY 1953 – Little-fancied Celtic kick off their campaign for the Coronation Cup with a 1-0 win over the mighty Arsenal at Hampden, a performance that delights their fans in the 59,500 crowd. The only goal of the game is scored by “the wee barra” Bobby Collins.

FRIDAY 11th MAY 1962 – At the end of a season which promised much but delivered little, Celtic give 25,000 fans something to cheer about as they beat Third Lanark 3-2 at Parkhead to win the replayed final of the Glasgow Cup. Charlie Gallagher scores twice and John Hughes once.

TUESDAY 11th MAY 1965 – Celtic, already on the crest of the wave after their Scottish Cup triumph, win the Glasgow Cup as well with a 5-0 win over Queen’s Park at Hampden. Bobby Lennox scores two and Bertie Auld, Steve Chalmers and Bobby Murdoch one each as Celtic delight their fans in the 17,051 crowd with some fine football.

WEDNESDAY 11th MAY 2022 – Celtic win their 52nd Scottish League Championship as they draw 1-1 with Dundee United at Tannadice with a goal from Georgios Giakoumakis. That looks enough, but Dundee United equalise in the second half, and the last few minutes are anxious. Indeed there have been one or two hairy moments towards the end of the season, but in the end Celtic are worthy champions, and have won the League 10 times out of the last 11 seasons.
