Celtic face Aberdeen this weekend in the Scottish Cup Final. Brendan Rodgers’ side collected the Premiership title after a draw to St Mirren at Celtic Park but will be looking to confirm a clean sweep with a win at Hampden.

Celtic received an allocation of 21,438 tickets for the game and there were two ballots. Both ballots were conducted by the club with successful HCTS members contacted by email. There had been some hope by supporters that hadn’t been successful in either ballots of a third ballot but these have been dashed after a Monday update on the club’s website.

The update to the club’s website confirmed that the Celtic allocation was sold out. It will be disappointing for a number of fans who missed out on the initial ballots as it means that they won’t make it to the game. For a number of fans that travel most weeks, this will be a bitter blow. Many have bemoaned the lack of updates with regards to the ticketing process from the club, citing their opponent’s communication efforts. Aberdeen confirmed their allocation and were very transparent with timings and process of ticket sales.

There was always going to be a large chunk of supporters missing out and it’s thankless task for the club at present given the incredible period of success on the pitch. It remains to be seen whether Aberdeen will bring a full crowd down to Glasgow for the Final after selling out. Their social media channels are full of comments from fair weather fans moaning about the team and rueing their purchases of tickets.
