Celtic have until 15 June to persuade Cameron Carter-Vickers to tun his successful and trophy laden loan spell with the club into a permanent arrangement that would see the player sign on with the Hoops for a defence of the Scottish Premiership and a tilt at the group stages of the Champions League.

That deadline date has come from American based journalist Larry Henry, who has advised if no deal is concluded by then, other suitors can make their move.

Of course, Carter-Vickers has been linked with Newcastle, Everton and Bournemouth, where the player also spent a season on loan from Spurs.

And whilst the Everton links are fresh tracks, the Newcastle one has bubbled away for a couple of weeks now, with the connection being Jason Tindall, Eddie Howe’s assistant at Newcastle United, managed Carter-Vickers when Tindall was in charge at Bournemouth.

As you’d expect after the excellent season Carter-Vickers has had with Celtic, English clubs are keen on the player, but Celtic still have time on their side as well as the carrot of Champions League football to offer, something despite the riches on offer at the clubs linked with the defender, cannot offer.

Further consideration will no doubt be made by Carter-Vickers to his international aspirations. After three years in the international wilderness the player has now received a call up to the USA team, and all on the back of impressive performances both domestically and in Europe for Celtic.

Would Carter-Vickers be guaranteed to be a first pick at Everton or Newcastle, and would that in turn harm his international ambitions? That’s certainly something Carter-Vickers will have to consider as he weighs up his options.

From Celtic’s side Ange Postecoglou has long hinted at a line in the sand whereby he’d expect a decision to be made by both Carter-Vickers and indeed Jota when it comes to making up their minds on a permanent switch to Celtic. Now it seems that line is drawn, and decision time lands on 15 June for Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Over to you big man!
