Andrey Santos has completed his loan move to Strasbourg.

Despite being on international duty with Brazil, the midfielder has seen a switch to Chelsea’s affiliate club go through. As we expected, loans between sister clubs are the easiest deals to get done, even remotely.

Santos was recalled from a disaster loan at Nottingham Forest at the start of the month, and is now able to go to Ligue 1 thanks to the recall of Diego Moreira from an equally terrible loan to Lyon freeing up a slot.

Strasbourg is a step down in quality for Andrey, but it’s still a top league and what matters is that he plays every week.

Their sporting director Loic Desiree had the following to say about his new capture:

“Andrey Santos is a midfielder who has a good game vision. His very high pass quality allows him to break the lines. His profile is very complementary to our current midfielders,” which sounds promising.

After finishing with Brazil, Santos should be primed and ready to go right into Patrick Vieira’s team. 6 months of action there will make up for his Midland struggles somewhat.
