Chelsea have added three more players to their extensive injury list. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is set to miss the upcoming match against Burnley as Mauricio Pochettino’s injury concerns pile up.

Chelsea Goalkeeper Added to Ten-Man Injury List

A Mixed Start at Stamford Bridge

Robert Sanchez left Brighton to join Chelsea on a £25 million deal in the summer. Kepa Arrizabalaga’s departure in the last days of the transfer window provided the 26-year-old with an easy path to becoming the number one keeper at his new club.

Despite showing flashes of brilliance in his first few months at Chelsea, Sanchez has yet to emulate his incredible Brighton form. Once hailed by Graham Potter as a “fantastic” keeper, he has only kept three Premier League clean sheets so far this season.

The Spanish goalkeeper is set to miss his side’s upcoming clash against Burnley with an injury. But that wasn’t the only squad blow confirmed by the club ahead of their next Premier League game.

Injury Crisis at Stamford Bridge

On Thursday, Chelsea issued a fitness update on their website, adding three more players to their already-bloated injury list. In addition to Sanchez, Trevoh Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka have suffered fitness setbacks in recent days.

Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Romeo Lavia are also on Chelsea’s injury list ahead of the Burnley game.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Mauricio Pochettino also raised doubts about Ben Chilwell’s availability, saying: “He got a knock in his knee.

“Today he was all right to train and now we will see what happens tomorrow, if he can be available to be in the squad or not. We need to assess him.”

‘Sad’ Update on Romeo Lavia

Chelsea’s continuous injury issues this season have seen some of their summer signings struggle to find their rhythm at the club. Romeo Lavia, who completed a £53 million move from Southampton in August, is set to end the season with only 30 minutes of playing time.

On Wednesday, Chelsea confirmed the midfielder had suffered a setback in his recovery process. He is set to miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury.

Reacting to Lavia’s injury, Pochettino said: “It’s a really difficult situation for him and of course he’s sad, he’s not happy. He’s only played 30 minutes, for a player who arrived new in the club.”

The Chelsea manager added that Lavia arrived at the club with a fitness problem but later confirmed that it was unrelated to his current issue.
