Chelsea are ready to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona for the signature of Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window… if Romelu Lukaku leaves.

The Blues were heavily linked with the Borussia Dortmund forward last summer, having won the Champions League, but the deal looked financially implausible and the European Champions decided to walk away.

Instead, they turned their attention to re-signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, which they achieved for a fee in the region of £97m. Needless to say, it hasn’t quite panned out as Thomas Tuchel would have liked.

There is now some suggestion that Lukaku could leave Chelsea after just one year back at the Bridge. If that were to materialise, the club would reignite their interest in Haaland, according to Fichajes.

The report claims that Chelsea would be willing to cut their losses on Lukaku and re-enter the running to sign Haaland, who is also a target for Real Madrid and Barcelona, as per the report.

Chelsea would have their work cut out convincing Haaland to join them over the two Spanish giants, but money talks, and Chelsea have shown real willingness to spend it over recent transfer windows.
