Businessman Roman Abramovich may be forced to sell Chelsea F.C. TASS

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich planning to sell team?

Pressure is mounting at a rapid rate around Roman Abramovich. Now the Chelsea F.C. owner, who has been distancing himself from the team in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, is reportedly listening to offers to buy the club.

ESPN reported early Wednesday the 55-year-old businessman "is understood to be seriously considering selling Chelsea" just a few days after he passed stewardship of the club to its trustees. The trustees are now reportedly seeking legal advice ahead of Abramovich selling the team.

Abramovich's recent actions come on the heels of Boris Johnson and the U.K. government being pressured to freeze the assets of wealthy Russians living in the country. There were also rumors over the weekend that the U.K. was planning to deport Abramovich because of his past ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

There are some very mixed feelings with regard to Abramovich selling the team given the long-standing success the club has had during his tenure as owner.
