One Chelsea player has claimed that the season will be classed as a success for them this term if they manage to do one thing in the final four games before the season is out.

The Blues are currently sitting in 8th position in the Premier League and a win today against West Ham would really push them towards gaining Europa League qualification.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic believes this season would be a success if Chelsea manage to qualify for that competition.

Personally, I’m not so sure that I agree. Looking at the season overall, I can’t say that would be a success because some of the performances and results have been horrendous, and I do not have a short term memory. But I do totally understand where he is coming from here and to be honest, getting Europa League would be very good now with all things considered and how bad we have been at times this season.

When asked if reaching Europe would represent success, the ambitious 24-year-old Serb said: “I can say that. We played one final against Liverpool and we deserved to win that.

“We also played a semi final in the FA Cup. We have a lot of young players and players playing at this level for the first time. We are not happy with that. We want to play in the Champions League, we want to take trophies. That is in the history of this club. But I can say that it’s a success if we play Europa League next year.”

Petrovic added: “We have the chance to take 12 points more. If we do that – and it will be difficult – we will have a good chance to be in Europe next season, Europa League or Conference League. We don’t want to give up. We want to finish the season in a good way.”
