Gabriel Slonina was one of Chelsea’s more interesting signings of the summer.

It’s not often you spend $15m on a teenage goalkeeper, but that’s exactly what the Blues did, on the recommendation of outgoing technical director Petr Cech.

The youngster has stayed put on loan in MLS, but with the season now over he’s set to come to Cobham for a bit, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

He will have a couple of weeks settling in, before heading off to join the USA team later this month.

After the World Cup, it will be time to find his next loan destination – likely in Europe as we help him adjust to a new environment and a new continent.

Slonina posted a photo of his emptied locker at the Chicago Fire training ground. His adventure there is coming to an end, but his adventure in European football is only just beginning.
