There are often phone calls that take place during the heat of deadline day that only emerge after the window shuts, and AC Milan’s attempt to sign Armando Broja seems to fall into that category.
The Athletic reported last night that Milan tried late in the window to sign Broja from Chelsea. The Albanian striker has been linked before, and there were talks he could move on loan to pursue first-team opportunities.
Calciomercato.com confirm that Milan made a late play for Broja, but in the end he went on loan to Chelsea’s neighbours Fulham given Brazilian striker Carlos Vinicius is ready to move to Galatasaray.
Broja has recovered from a serious knee injury (cruciate ligament rupture) and this season he has scored two goals for Chelsea: one in the League Cup against Preston North End and one in the league at Fulham.
He now expects to play with greater continuity to arrive in shape at the European Championships this summer in Germany. His Albania are in the group with Italy, Croatia and Spain.
The more he plays, the less Fulham will have to pay to Chelsea given the deal is structured in such a way that they are penalised for not fielding him.
